Remodeled kitchens
A Sub-Zero fitted into a kitchen that was built for a freestanding refrigerator needs clear airflow at the grille or kickplate. We check the opening and the condenser before we look at fans, sensors or the sealed system.
Sub-Zero · Fountain Valley, CA
Fountain Valley is our home base. We repair Sub-Zero refrigerators, freezers and ice makers across ZIP 92708, diagnose on site and quote before any work starts. The $75 service call is waived if you go ahead with the repair.
Fountain Valley is mostly single-family homes from the 1960s and 1970s, and many of them have been remodeled. Around Mile Square Park, in Green Valley and in Founders Village, it is common to find a Sub-Zero built-in or integrated column where a standard refrigerator used to stand, sometimes with a separate freezer column or an undercounter ice maker on an island or in a garage bar.
Because A.A. Repairs is based in Fountain Valley, the city sits in the middle of our regular routes between Huntington Beach, Costa Mesa and Newport Beach. Every visit starts the same way: serial tag, both cooling sections, condenser, then a plain explanation and a quote.
A.A. Repairs is an independent repair company and is not affiliated with Sub-Zero Group, Inc. We are registered with the California Bureau of Household Goods and Services (BHGS), and sealed-system work is done by an EPA 608 Universal certified technician.

Separate freezer columns and garage or bar units are easy to forget until they fail. Sub-Zero recommends a 0°F freezer setting, and a column that will not hold temperature after a condenser cleaning needs a technician.
Inland homes see less salt air than the coast, but dust, pet hair and lint still clog condensers. Sub-Zero recommends cleaning built-in condensers every 6 to 12 months, and it is one of the few fixes an owner can safely do.
Refrigerators, freezers and ice makers. Our owner guides list the safe checks you can try before you book.
Refrigerator or freezer warm, food at risk.
Often a dirty condenser, a failed fan, a control or sensor fault, or a sealed-system problem. Sub-Zero notes that a refrigerator reading above 48°F while set at 38°F needs a technician. In converted kitchens, check that cabinetry or trim does not cover the grille or kickplate.
"Service" flashing, double dashes, or a display that will not respond.
Some messages are simple, like showroom or Sabbath mode. Others point to a sensor or a compressor that ran too long. A photo of the display and the serial tag helps us prepare. If the unit went into showroom or Sabbath mode after a power blink, the guide shows how to switch it back.
Unit running constantly, warm sections, or "Service" lit.
A clogged condenser is one of the most common causes of warm temperatures. Sub-Zero recommends cleaning every 6 to 12 months on built-ins and every 3 to 6 months on undercounter units. Pet hair and lint build up on the coil, so homes with pets benefit from staying on schedule.
No ice, small or hollow cubes, or "Service" and "Ice" flashing.
Common causes are a jammed cube, low water pressure, an old filter, a frozen fill tube or a warm freezer. We check the water supply and freezer temperature before replacing parts. Garage and bar ice makers often sit on long water lines, so check the supply valve and filter first.
One section fails while the other seems fine.
Most Sub-Zero built-ins and columns have separate cooling for each section, so we test each one on its own instead of selling a full sealed-system job by default. A freezer column next to a refrigerator column is a separate unit, so one can fail while the other runs fine.
The technician diagnoses the unit on site and quotes parts and labor together before any work starts. You decide whether to go ahead. Repairs carry a warranty of up to 90 days, with the terms written on your invoice. All prices.
